Overview
Shaft seals are manufactured from a variety of materials, including rubber, elastomers, PTFE (Teflon) and metals, to suit specific applications, fluid types and operating conditions.
Shaft seals are commonly used in machinery such as pumps, motors, gearboxes and turbines where the shaft rotates within a housing. Their primary function is to contain the fluid within the machine while allowing the shaft to rotate freely without leakage or resistance.
