Steel is essential in modern life, used in everything from cars and construction to appliances and medical equipment. Its unique ability to be endlessly recycled without losing strength makes it a sustainable choice for various industries.

Steel is produced mainly through two methods: the Blast Furnace and the Electric Arc Furnace. The Blast Furnace uses coke, iron ore, and limestone to extract pig iron from iron oxides. This initial step is crucial in the process of turning raw materials into usable steel.

Coal is heated in an oven at 980°C without oxygen, turning it into coke. This process removes volatile substances such as oil, tar, and sulfur. After 18-24 hours, the resulting coke, which is 90-93% carbon, is cooled and broken into pieces. The final product is stronger, more porous, and suitable for use in steel production.
